Textile Art Fun

TEXTILE ART FUN

Easy Activity

  • Download the Kente Coloring Page
  • Color with crayons, colored pencils or watercolor pencils.
  • Frame your textile art or use it to make clothes for your Dreadlocks Collage Paper Doll.

Advanced or Family Activity

You and your family can read kente cloth just like Dreadlocks and Auntie Samella did!

See the colors. Find the lines.

You will see vertical lines, horizontal lines and zigzags

See the shapes:  You will see rectangles, squares and triangles.  Don’t forget dots!

Now look for patterns made from colors, lines and shapes.

Now that you know how to read the fabric, you are ready to copy the fabric.
You will need:

  1. Paper
  2. Pencil
  3. Ruler

Parents can help you fold the patterns, then use a ruler to draw lines on the folds.

Or use a ruler to draw the patterns that you see.

Congratulations!  You have made your very own kente cloth coloring page.

You know what to do.  Use it to make clothes for your Dreadlocks Collage Paper Doll.

What Will You Do With Your Dreadlocks Collage Paper Doll?
